Here’s a review of the Garmin Forerunner 220, that I wrote for the Leicester Runners site; please feel free to read and comment!
The Garmin Forerunner 220 was launched in the autumn of 2013, but looking at the running forums, doesn’t seem to have attracted the attention of Garmin users, who seem to opt for the more basic models, which tend to be cheaper. The model currently retails for an average price of about £150 new (it originally retailed at about £230), though bargains can be found. The recent reductions may be linked with the news that the FR 225 is due for release any moment soon. There may be further bargains from current FR 220 users looking to upgrade.
I bought mine just under a year ago, in July 2014, making a return to Garmin after having used the Nike Sportswatch. Among my criticisms of the Nike watch was the size (it was quite bulky on a small wrist), and the fact it could take an age to locate GPS signal.
